HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and Republican David McCormick will be the only eligible names on ballots for the office in Pennsylvania's April primary after a ruling Friday by the state's highest court. The state Supreme Court rejected an appeal from a Republican candidate, Joe Vodvarka, who had been ordered off primary ballots by a lower court that found he had not received enough voter signatures to qualify. The state Supreme Court, in its two-line order, did not explain its decision. Courts earlier in March had already granted challenges to the paperwork of two other candidates filing for the primary ballot for U.S. Senate. Both Brandi Tomasetti, a Republican from Lancaster County, and William Parker, a Democrat from Allegheny County, were ordered off ballots.

However, as the head of the world’s largest hedge fund, McCormick oversaw massive investments into US exchange traded Chinese companies and holdings, according to a CNN KFile review of the hedge fund’s holdings. I held deep reservations about Bridgewater’s exposure to the moral and patriotic hazards of doing business in China,” McCormick said in September 2023 before officially launching his campaign. That amounts to a 108,000% increase in Chinese holdings over a five-year period. (AP) — Republican David McCormick is expected to announce Thursday that he will enter Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate race and make his second bid for the office, this time to take on Democratic Sen. Bob Casey after losing in last year’s crowded Republican primary. McCormick's aides have sent invites to a “special announcement” by McCormick at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh at 5 p.m. McCormick, 58, was heavily recruited to run again by the party establishment and, thus far, has a clear GOP primary field. He is a stalwart of Pennsylvania’s Democratic Party — the son of a former two-term governor and Pennsylvania's longest-ever serving Democrat in the Senate. McCormick, who grew up near Bloomsburg, is the son of Pennsylvania’s first state university system chancellor.
